A & M Jiu-Jitsu opened in September 2017 at 5300 Powerline Rd in north Fort Lauderdale. It was founded by Dru Phoenix, a black belt and Marine veteran who has trained since 2009 and taught since 2017, together with Devin Phoenix. The team of six instructors also includes Gerard Dudamell, Garrett Fosdick, Joshua Thanos and Carlos "Rock" Acevedo.
The academy runs adult Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, a kids self-defense program, a homeschool youth program (it is a direct vendor for the Florida Step Up Scholarship), MMA and strength and conditioning, with open mat on Sundays. The academy describes its culture as focused but laid-back.
