Maui Jiu-Jitsu Academy opened in 2000 at 810 Haiku Rd in Haiku, Hawaii. The academy teaches Gracie Jiu-Jitsu with an emphasis on fundamentals and self-defense, and it is led by Luis Heredia, a native of Rio de Janeiro who trained under Helio Gracie and Rickson Gracie and received his black belt from Rickson Gracie in 1995.
Adult training includes dedicated white-belt classes, advanced gi, a self-defense curriculum, no-gi and competition sessions. Kids are grouped by age from 4 to 15, and the academy offers private and semi-private lessons as well as drop-in classes for residents and visitors.
