United Art Jiu-Jitsu (Gracie UA) is located at 3035 Indianola Ave in Clintonville, just north of the Ohio State campus. It was founded in 2011 as a partnership between three friends and training partners who are Relson Gracie black belts (Tom Feister, Matt Rigney and Tony Zara), and the academy traces its roots to Dr. Jeff Hudson, the Relson Gracie black belt who brought Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to Columbus in the early 1990s.
The academy runs a mixed-level basics program where beginners and advanced students train together, open mats, gi and no-gi training, and a Thursday women's self-defense class. Its instructor roster lists five black belts (Tony Zara, Dave Tabron, Derek Oney, Chris Bernard, Ryan McClure) and two brown belts, and the school emphasizes small class sizes and self-defense alongside sport jiu-jitsu.
