Jason Vigil is the owner and founder of Island Jiu-Jitsu in Honolulu. He started teaching friends in his garage in 2004, formed the club in a Hawai'i Kai backyard in 2010, and opened the academy's Kaka'ako dojo in 2015. He received his black belt from Jason Izaguirre of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Kailua in 2013 and now holds a 3rd-degree black belt; his teaching is technique-oriented with an emphasis on self-defense.
