Most people who fall in love with Muay Thai dream about training in Thailand one day. Sean Fagan actually did it. Known online as The Muay Thai Guy, Sean lived, trained and fought in Thailand for years before becoming one of the best-known Muay Thai teachers in the world. In January 2027 he’s bringing that experience to Costa Rica for a week-long retreat at Jungle’s Edge in Nosara.

Who is Sean Fagan?

Sean is a professional fighter and instructor with more than 15 years in Muay Thai. His record includes 35 fights, two amateur championships and a title won at Madison Square Garden, and he has fought on national Thai television and on Lion Fight. Today he teaches students around the world through The Muay Thai Guy, breaking down the art in a way that makes sense whether you’re brand new or already competing.

The retreat at a glance

  • Dates: January 10–17, 2027
  • Where: Jungle’s Edge, Nosara, Costa Rica
  • Who it’s for: all levels, from curious beginners to experienced fighters
  • Length: 7 nights

What a week looks like

Expect a real training camp rhythm: technical sessions and pad work on open-air mats, with time between sessions to recover, eat well and enjoy Nosara. Jungle’s Edge is set up for exactly this kind of week, with a gym, a cold plunge, a yoga shala for mobility and an infinity-edge pool to cool down in afterward.

January is peak dry season on Costa Rica’s Pacific coast, which means sunny days and warm ocean water. Playa Guiones is a few minutes away, so a surf lesson or a sunset on the beach fits easily into your afternoons.

Learn Muay Thai from someone who lived it, then recover in the jungle and surf the Pacific.

Why train on a retreat?

A week of focused training compresses months of classes into days. You get training from a world-class instructor, drilling with people who care as much as you do, and none of the distractions of home. It’s also one of the best ways to meet training partners from all over the world.
